How to Apply for a Study Visa
Here is the IRCC guide and application form for a Study Visa.
PLC Documents
Students will need to have Letter of Acceptance and Confirmation of Enrollment letters from the college before they travel to Canada. If haven’t received them after being admitted to PLC, please reach out to the admissions office.
Processing Times for Study Permit
The processing time for a study permit applied outside Canada is 9 weeks. This processing time does not include the time it takes to send an application between a visa application centre (VAC) and IRCC office and the time you need to give your biometrics.
From inside Canada, the processing time is 4 weeks, does not include the time you need to give your biometrics. As IRCC updates the processing times, please visit the IRCC Website for the most updated times.
Booking Flights
Kindly plan your arrival in Canada carefully. It is advised that students arrive no more than four weeks prior to the commencement of classes. Choose the flight that has the fewest connections when you are booking your trip to Canada. Direct travel to Vancouver (Vancouver International Airport – YVR) is the best option. If you book a flight that has connections in other countries, please be sure that you have a valid entry visa for the transit country
Arriving in Canada
At the port of entry (airport or border) that’s where you will be interviewed and verify the documents and purpose of your visit. You need to have all the documents ready and near you, as mentioned above for checking. Once approved, you will receive your official study permit document. Please ensure that the information on the study permit is accurately written, before leaving the airport or border. Do not leave the airport or border without a study permit.
