Course Overview

The course provides comprehensive training on methods of diagnosing and caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities. It covers essential concepts, strategies, and best practices for promoting independence, inclusion, and quality of life for clients with intellectual disabilities. Participants will learn how to assess individual needs, develop personalized support plans, and implement person-centered approaches to enhance the well-being of clients with intellectual disabilities.

  • A review of assignments and an overview of the daily lesson plan will be presented each day
  • Selected exercises to be completed outside of class time may be assigned
  • Development of critical thinking and customer service skills will be the focus of each class
  • Each class may begin with a daily lesson quiz
