New Student Orientation is Always Fun
PLC extends a warm invitation to all new students to attend our essential New Student Orientation Online event. Covering topics like student services, books, studying in Canada and PLC, getting settled in Vancouver, and ensuring your well-being, this orientation is mandatory. Please note that the orientation date may vary based on your program. Further information will be sent via email after your course registration, prior to the commencement of classes.
From understanding campus facilities to discovering academic support services, our orientation ensures you start your journey with confidence and a sense of belonging. Connect with fellow students, instructors, staff, and student ambassadors and get personalized help for your questions. Discover events, engaging activities, and ways to actively participate in the college community. Orientation can take place either at the Burnaby campus or the Surrey Campus. We eagerly anticipate your arrival at PLC!

Transitioning to college life can be hard but orientation will help you get the best start start to your new life as a student. Get essential insights, be acquainted with campus resources, form connections, and ensure you start your academic life on a high note.
Any new PLC student should attend the orientation, whether fresh from high school, a mature student, or a transfer student from another institution.
Students can attend online classes through Moodle. There you can browse your classes and assignments, see your grades, and meet fellow colleagues. You can access Moodle by visiting study.plvan.com
Moodle serves as a versatile learning management system, empowering faculty to enhance in-person courses or create blended/online classes. It’s your go-to platform for accessing courses, materials, assignments, and quizzes. Log in to find all your academic resources conveniently in one place: study.plvan.com

Your first class will start after you have completed your online orientation. You will receive an email from the campus manager one week before your classes start, to notify you of the course that you are enrolled in, when is the first day of your class as well as the campus that you will be attending for that course.
It’s advised students should monitor their PLC emails as this is where you will receive all communications from the college.
According to your program of study, your next course will be updated in Moodle one week before your classes start. You will receive an email from the campus manager to notify you of the course that you are enrolled in, when is the first day of your class as well as the campus that you will be attending for that course. You will receive details in Moodle from your instructors about your course delivery format, but please know this may not be until the first day of classes. In Moodle, you will know at what time classes start and when they finish. Also, you will know for that particular course the expected date of completion. If your Moodle course site doesn’t already contain this information, or if you still haven’t heard from your instructor after the first day of class, please reach out to this email: aarondpenha@plvan.com

You will receive your student card when you come to Surrey campus, this can be during your orientation or when you drop in after you have been admitted. Visit the front desk and they can help you create your student ID. This will be a photo ID, so don’t forget to bring your smile. The name on your ID will be the same as the name you registered with at PLC.
If there is something that you can bring for the orientation is your questions and smile as you can meet a lot of new people and current people. We offer a light snack for participants but feel free to bring your own, especially if you have dietary preferences or restrictions, to ensure you have the energy you need. PLC has water stations for you to fill up your own water bottle, so you can bring a water bottle.
Orientation is compulsory for international students on work visas. While it’s not mandatory for domestic or permanent resident students, we strongly recommend your attendance. You’ll gain essential information vital for your studies.
Simply click here to register for on-campus orientation. For online orientation, new students will be automatically registered for orientation, and an email will be sent to them in a week’s time before the orientation date.
PLC Orientation is absolutely free for all new students, unlike some other institutions.
We advise scheduling your work shifts and vacations around the Orientation date, as no alternative dates are offered. If attending is still not possible, make sure to do research on PLC for a smooth transition.
